Choice Privileges hotel points may not be your primary type of hotel loyalty points, but I think they are certainly worth having in your back pocket. My family has done very well with Choice points at the ready and we usually obtain them via the annual Daily Getaways sale. Today a number of Choice Privileges points packages are available at 1PM Eastern via the Daily Getaways sale. Before we dive into the different packages, let’s look at why you should care about Choice points in the first place.

Choice Hotel Points can save your family money on travel

I don’t use Choice points frequently, but I am always, always very happy when they do align with our travel needs. For example, we used Choice points to book my mom a room at an adorable 19-room boutique hotel in Scotland, they have helped my parents stay at various mid-range hotels near Yellowstone, and of course they are the perfect way to get wristband access to affordably visit Atlantis in the Bahamas by booking a room at the neighboring Comfort Suites Paradise Island as we did last year.

Even if you don’t actually stay at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island overnight and just use 30,000 points to secure a room for the day + four Atlantis wristbands, you are still scoring a heck of a deal. Just one Atlantis wristband can cost $135 if you buy it directly from Atlantis, but if you purchase Choice points for a little under 1/2 a cent each today, then you can essentially get four wristbands to Atlantis and a hotel room at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island for just $144.

Last year, I strongly encouraged anyone who would listen to check out Choice when they were pricing a very nice Manhattan hotel within the Ascend Collection for just 8,000 points per night. That rate has now gone up to 30,000 points per night, but that can still work out to be a solid deal when staying in Manhattan at a peak time.

Their Ascend Collection has nice boutique properties all over including in places such as New York City, Aspen, Aruba, Hawaii, and beyond. Choice Privileges is also very strong in places like Scandinavia, where you could book a room at the well rated SKT. PETRI in Copenhagen for 20,000 points per night. These rooms can sell for more than $400 per night.

There are many, many solid ways to redeem your Choice Privileges points, but you can’t redeem them if you don’t have any, so here is how you can stock up today. There are four different packages of points available today, and all are available in pretty large quantities so as long as you are online right at 1 PM Central, you should be able to grab the one you want.

  • Purchase 55,000 Choice points for $265: .0048 cents per point
  • Purchase 42,000 Choice points for $205: .0048 cents per point
  • Purchase 28,000 Choice points for $144: .0051 cents per point
  • Purchase 14,000 Choice points for $80: .0057 cents per point

The pricier Choice hotel properties are 30,000 points per night, so I’d try and purchase at least that many points if you are considering a purchase, but don’t overbuy and forget about your points as you need to earn or redeem Choice points every 18 months to keep them in your account. Note that you can only use Choice points within 30 days of domestic travel and 60 days for international travel. I plan to try and pick up a few Choice points today so that I am ready for the next time that we can put them to good use.

  1. So it takes 30k per night at the Bahamas Atlantis hotel? You still would need 2k more after purchasing for 28k for $144, right?

    • Maury, yes it has been pricing at 30,000. If possible, I would purchase one of the larger packages to have it covered and then you have some points to start you towards something else.

  2. Bought a few. More expensive this year and more available, so didn’t sell out right away. I will use for either Grand Cayman or Bahamas probably.
