I’m about to hop on a plane, so I’ll keep this short and just offer a reminder that today’s Daily Getaway is one that could be good for you if you like to have a $175 hotel stay in your back pocket.

The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card

For $175 you can purchase 15,000 Wyndham Reward points that you can use for any of their one-bedroom hotel rooms or properties around the world. I know that $175 is not an inexpensive hotel stay, but it can be much less than the going rate in expensive cities or during peak times.

We saved $1,000 last year thanks to having some Wyndham Rewards points in our back pocket to use when staying at expensive places like the Hotel Henri and TRYP Times Square South, both in New York City.

In addition to Manhattan, Wyndham has some pretty cool looking 15,000 points per night properties in places like Aspen, Napa, France, and historic Galveston. Their award chart is very unique in that all properties are 15,000 points per night.

Hotel Galvez Wyndham

You can purchase up to two sets of 15,000 Wyndham points via today’s Daily Getaways if you are online when they go on sale at 1PM Eastern. Do be aware that Wyndham Rewards points are valid for four years from deposit date, but only if you have some activity at least every 18 months. In other words, don’t buy these points and forget about them as they will go to waste if you have no activity for 18 months. I believe you can only purchase a maximum of 10,000 Wyndham points per year directly from Wyndham, so this is one of the rare opportunities to pick some up outside of actual Wyndham stays and using their co-branded credit card.

Do you plan to purchase some Wyndham Rewards points this afternoon?

  1. Maybe. How hard is it to book with points as opposed to cash? Is there availability or is that an iffy thing? (This is why I love Southwest Airlines so much!)

    • December of 2016 I used Wyndham points from this sale ( I bought 2 sets and my mom bought 2 sets) for a week in NYC. I had never been to NYC, let alone at Christmas and one of Summer’s posts encouraged me. It was great! Just as a datapoint, I booked the room in May right after the Daily GetAways. There weren’t too many points rooms left at the Wingate Manhattan at that time (we opted for a less fancy hotel but with breakfast–and right around the corner from Macy’s!).

So the moral of the story is, book those rooms as early as you can.

      • Yes, always good advice! I picked up a package today and it may well get used in NYC at some point…or I keep eyeing the Galveston historic properties!
