Radisson Aruba to Become Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort

For months there has been buzz about the potential sale of the Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino, and Spa.  This was not good news to fans of the Club Carlson program like myself since the hotel was only 50,000 Club Carlson points per night and Club Carlson co-branded credit card holders could get the last award night free (until all that changed on June 1st).  Beginning June 1st, the hotel was no longer such a great deal on points once it…

Radisson Aruba Not Sold Yet: Make Award Bookings Through 2016

The Radisson Aruba Resort is reportedly in the process of being sold to another company.  Rumors have been popping up that Hilton is the buyer, but so far that isn’t confirmed.  Until pretty recently the Club Carlson website was only allowing points reservations to be made for 2015 dates at this property.  However, you can now make award bookings at the Radisson Aruba Resort using Club Carlson points through 2016. You can read my full review of the Radisson Resort,…

Eating in Aruba

One of my very favorite things to do while traveling is eat. Heck, it is one of my favorite activities when we are at home, too, but I really like experiencing different foods around the world.  I don’t usually eat fancy or expensive food, but I just like experiencing whatever it is that different destinations have to offer.  On our recent trip to Aruba we were excited to try out some foods the island had to offer, but while we…

Hyatt Regency Aruba Beach and Pools!

This winter we decided to head south for a points-fueled January escape to Aruba.  We took advantage of a long weekend in mid-January to pack up the family up for a short trip to Aruba where we split our time between the Radisson Aruba on Club Carlson points, and the Hyatt Regency Aruba using Hyatt Gold Passport points (and Chase Ultimate Rewards points transferred in 1:1 from our Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card).  Rates at both properties were $400-$500+ on our…

Beachfront Hyatt Regency Aruba Review

Part of our strategy to happily make it through winter this year was to plan a points-fueled January escape to Aruba.  It doesn’t get that cold where we live, but it does get chilly, grey, wet, and nasty.  We took advantage of a long weekend in mid-January to pack up the family up for a short trip to Aruba where we split our time between the Radisson Aruba on Club Carlson points, and the Hyatt Regency Aruba using Hyatt Gold…

Radisson Aruba Resort Review – Picture Perfect Beach!

Just as we did last year to the Bahamas, we decided to bail out on winter for a few days and head to the beach this January using miles, points, and travel deals.  This time we set our site on Aruba since we had never been there, had heard it was good for families, there are several points friendly hotel options, and I had been told that unlike in some other Caribbean destinations, mosquitoes and bugs weren’t a problem due…

Radisson Aruba Resort to be Sold

As I wrote a couple days ago, one of the easiest types of hotel loyalty points to earn right now are Club Carlson points.  Of course, points are only valuable to earn if you ultimately have somewhere you want to redeem them.  One of the more popular family redemption destinations for Club Carlson points in this part of the world has been in Aruba at the Radisson Aruba Resort.  In fact, my family redeemed Club Carlson points there just a…

First Impressions of a Family Vacation in Aruba

My family has been enjoying fun in the sun the last couple days in Aruba, and while I won’t have the full trip report ready for a bit, I wanted to share some first impressions and thoughts while we are still here. 1.  The beaches are as nice, kid friendly, and as accessible as everyone says. If you just want a few days to lay on the beach without having to work hard to get to a nice and calm…
