Kids Fly Free on SAS to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and More!

Families can easily suffer from serious sticker shock when booking airline tickets since you have to multiply the going fare by 3, or 4, or 5, or even 8 depending on how many are in your family. Gulp.   However, via a very cool promotion, SAS is offering children through age 11 free tickets to from the United States to Scandinavia and Finland for travel from February 7 – April 9, 2017, as long as tickets are booked by January 23,…

Flying in Lufthansa First Class on the A380 (Frankfurt – Houston)

My four nights in Norway went by in a white flash of snow, and before we knew it, the time had come to wake-up at 4AM to start the journey home.  My friend and I were taking different routes back to the US, so we said our goodbyes at the Oslo airport and I headed toward my intra-European Lufthansa flight from Oslo to Frankfurt and she headed home via Amsterdam  While I was certainly excited to be heading home to…

Review Radisson Blu Airport Hotel, Oslo Gardermoen

On our last night of our exciting trip to Norway, we stayed at the Radisson Blu Airport Hotel, Oslo Gardermoen.  We were able to take the bus directly from the resort in Trysil to the airport, so that was quite convenient as the airport stop comes even before the bus gets back into the heart of Oslo.  We also had early flights home the next morning, and in those situations, staying at a hotel that is not only at the…

What It’s Like to Ski in Norway

The big attraction for my friend and I as we planned our trip using miles and points to go to snowy Norway was snow skiing.  We both love to ski, but had never skied together, and had certainly never skied in Norway.  We both expected that skiing outside of North America would be a little bit different than we were used to, but we were ready for the adventure.  What we found was that it was indeed a bit different,…

Review of Radisson Blu Trysil Resort in Norway

What sealed the deal on the idea of a ski trip to Norway was the slopeside Radisson Blu Trysil Resort in Norway.  Not only did the photos and online reviews make it look like a nice place to stay, but it was a ski-in property, and we could stay there during ski season using Club Carlson points.  I’ll jump ahead to say overall the hotel was fantastic and one of my favorite uses of Club Carlson points!  Before I get…

Activities For One Day in Oslo, Norway

As part of our big miles and points ski trip to Norway my friend and I had one night in Oslo to explore the city before we headed west to the ski resort.  By the time I got settled at the hotel it was just about time for dinner, but luckily my friend had arrived earlier in the day and had a chance to get out and explore a little more than I did (jealous!).  Here are some of the…

Lufthansa First Class Lounges in Frankfurt

After landing in Frankfurt from my over-the-top Lufthansa First Class overnight flight from Dallas, I was still a bit tired, but excited to see some fancy cars waiting to drive myself and fellow first class passengers to our next destinations.  This type of ground transportation is totally unnecessary, but still pretty fun and actually helpful. In my case, they drove me to the terminal where I would clear passport control, go through security, and then spend the time in the…

Using Miles and Points to Explore Norway: Overview and Planning

When it became evident that the trip my long time friend and I had planned to see the Olympics in Sochi was no longer the right fit for us, we chatted on the phone for quite a while to decide where to go instead.  We had the time, money, and miles set aside, so there is no way we were going to miss the chance to take an amazing trip together just because our original destination didn’t work out.  We…
