How to Pack Only in a Spirit Airlines Free Carry On Bag

Spirit Airlines offers cheap flights, but they can get you with all of the extra fees if you aren’t careful. A carry-on bag alone can cost you $65, or you can pay no bag fees at all if you are strategic. Here’s how to pack for your flight in only a Spirit Airlines free carry-on personal item no larger than a big purse or small backpack…

What it Takes to Get Me to Book Spirit Airlines

It may be fun to laugh a bit at Spirit Airlines with their no-frills approach, yellow planes, and in-your-face-ads, but at the end of the day sometimes they can save you hundreds of dollars on one flight. I’ll suck it up and fly Spirit if the price is right, but how right does the price have to be to make it worth it? Today’s booking gives me a clue…

Fly for Less on New Spirit Airlines Routes!

Spirit Airlines may not be a fancy carrier (is there such thing as a fancy US carrier?!), but they sure do offer some solid deals for those who want to hit the skies, so I get pretty excited when they start up new routes. Not only does Spirit offer some very affordable flights when paying with cash, but their award program really can be amazing for the right type of budget traveler with flexibility…aka my parents who fly Spirit more than any other…

Final Call for Spirit Airlines Service to Cuba

Just a few months after starting up service, Spirit Airlines has decided to end their flights to Cuba effective May 31, 2017. Spirit is currently operating one to two daily flights from Ft. Lauderdale – Havana, depending on the date of travel until June 1st. Some dates that Spirit had planned on operating two daily round trips will be going down to one, so your travel plans on may be impacted even if your reservation is before June 1st.   Similar to what Frontier and Silver cited when…

Just How Small is the New Spirit Airlines Free Personal Item Allowance?

About a year ago I shared that Spirit Airlines was going to shrink the size of their allowed free personal carry-on item as per their website’s information. However, they changed their mind and those rules didn’t ultimately go into effect in 2016 as they originally stated. But, Spirit is once again set to introduce new and smaller personal item dimensions effective April 2017. I have to imagine they won’t change their minds at the last minute again.   Currently the one…

Spirit Airlines Getting PreCheck in the Next Week!

Great news for budget travelers who fly Spirit Airlines – they seem to finally be joining the current decade and state on Twitter that they will have PreCheck up and working by the end of January….which is less than a week away! In fact, it may already be up via a soft launch this week.   My parents are from the generation of travelers that get to the airport several hours early…and that’s a darn good thing because as pretty regular…

Up to 2,500 Bonus Miles for the Cheapest Spirit Flights!

I love Spirit Airlines. I mean, I don’t personally fly them frequently, but I love them. My parents actually do fly them regularly for just 2,500 miles each way since they have the Spirit Airlines credit card, which I think is a great deal for those that can make it work. Spirit doesn’t make any apologies for being a low cost carrier, in fact they have a pretty great sense of humor about it. As long as you know the rules…

Spirit Offers Free Checked and Carry On Bags for Military!

There’s no denying the crazy low prices sometimes found on low cost carrier Spirit Airlines (here are my 10 favorite things about Spirit!). There is also no denying the reality that everything on Spirit Airlines costs extra, and if you need to check bags the costs for “extras” can add up quickly. However, if you are active duty military then the overall cost of flying Spirit has recently gotten cheaper as they have introduced new policy that allows for all passengers with…
