Star MegaDo 4 Details Announced at the Launch Party!

Last night about 100 miles and points junkies converged on the Hyatt Crystal City outside of Washington DC to eat, talk, drink, mingle, and learn the top-secret details related to the Star MegaDo 4.  As luck (or really lack of luck) would have it, Milepoint, BoardingArea, and MegaDo.com were all off-line for most of yesterday.  I had my laptop at the event (like a complete nerd) so I could share info as quickly as possible to anyone interested who couldn’t…

Guarantee a Spot on the Uber-Popular Star MegaDo 4!

About this time last year I flippantly mentioned the Star MegaDo 3 to my husband, and described to him how incredibly awesome it would be to do something like that one day.  I wasn’t even entering into a negotiation to go (as is often required when you are married and want to do something that involves a large amount of money and the other party staying home alone with a toddler), as I didn’t even dream it to be a…

MegaDO Madness

I’ve officially got “MegaDO fever”. Important definitions: MegaDO: noun An organized get together of travel junkies to go on exciting journeys and special tours.  Think chartered flights, behind the scenes tours of airports, hotel receptions, crashing flying airline simulators, etc…. MegaDO fever: noun A serious condition in which one cannot stop thinking about all things related to a MegaDO.  The only known cause for this ailment is to attend a MegaDO (or two, or three). Now that we have that…

SMD3 Contest Winners Announced!

Thank you so much for everyone who entered to win a little piece of the SMD3.  These items really are pretty cool, so I am excited for them to go to a home that loves them at least as much as Little C and I do. She loved all of her “necklaces” that Mommy brought home from the DO.  Randy Peterson was also nice enough to throw in some more “pieces of SMD3” as well, so in total we have…

Update: This contest has ended, see a list of winners here.  Thanks to all who entered! As promised in last night’s post, I am bringing a small piece of the Star MegaDo 3 to you.  The SMD3 sponsors were very generous with sharing some “swag” with the attendees, and I would like to share some of that with you as a thank-you for reading Mommy Points, and as incentive to save up some cash and come on the trip next…

Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Attend a Mega DO

Instead of taking you through a step-by-step account of the Star Mega DO I was lucky enough to attend last week (since you can pretty much already read that on several other great blogs), I am instead going to give you a top 10 reasons why you should attend a Mega DO, based on some of my favorite moments of last week.  Additionally, I am going to tip you off about a little Mega DO-related giveaway I am doing tomorrow…

Tears at 36,000 Feet

Today I flew home from Denver after an amazing four days at the Star Mega Do 3. Today is the ten year anniversary of September 11th. Today I just couldn’t stop the tears from streaming out of my eyes while flying at 36,000 feet. The plane I was on this morning had DirecTV, and as I boarded at about 6:30AM MST (8:30AM Eastern) I noticed the 10th anniversary 9/11 ceremonies were playing on TV. While it is sad to say,…

Good Morning, Montreal!

The SMD3 chartered flight has made its way safely to Canada.  This is my first time in Montreal and it is amazing how far away from home you can feel after such a relatively short flight.  Things are spoken (and written) in French first, English second.  The buildings in Old Town were so beautiful and interesting, and had a very different feel than I am used to in Texas. The only bad thing so far about Montreal, is that we…

Hi From Chicago!

I survived my first day of SMD3!  My Houston to Chicago flight was a breeze, and I got to sleep most of the way there.  Traveling by yourself is so easy!  I was lucky enough to spot a group of 5-6 other attendees in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, and was able to travel via train and bus with them for the hour it took to get to the Park Hyatt Chicago.  I was very thankful to be…
