New Mommy Points Travel Channel Videos Available!

I’ve been lucky enough to do some work with other great publications and sites outside of just this blog from time to time over the last four years.  One of the great companies I have worked with several times is Travel Channel.  My Samantha Brown-loving-self would have fallen over and died if someone told me I would also do some work with the Travel Channel back when I was watching Passport to Europe over ten years ago! Of course I…

The Travel Channel’s Best Travel Deals

I work with the Travel Channel’s online site from time to time to share some miles, points, and family travel tips.  This month they are doing a feature on the “Best Travel Deals”, so I was excited to share some of my favorite deals.  Along with me, they also have tips from fellow travel junkies The Points Guy, Frugal Travel Guy, Johnny Jet, Nomadic Matt, and others.  This is a part of a longer series that features different “Travel Best”…

Best Family All-Inclusive Resorts in the US

From time to time I do some writing and online videos for The Travel Channel, and recently they contacted me asking if I could write an article on the “Best Family All-Inclusive Resorts in the US”.  On this blog I primarily stick to miles and points related things, so I think it is fun to occasionally write about different travel related destinations.  In doing the research for the article, a very bad thing happened…I found myself really wanting to visit…

Mini Points (Points Purchase Specials, Travel Channel Contest, and Snow!)

In case you have missed them, here are a few quick updates from the miles and points world… There is up to a 25% bonus on purchasing Starwood Preferred Guest points through 4/30/13. SPG points are very valuable, though are probably a bit less valuable than they were a few months ago. If you purchase the 13,000 – 20,000 points you are given the full 25% discount. That comes to a little over 2.6 cents per point. I have had…

Ski Trip Preparations

We are in the final stretch before our family ski trip (woohoo!), and I realized I don’t think I shared the link to an article I wrote for Travel Channel on the topic.  Plus, now that we are going through the motions ourselves, I have a few others notes to add.  I can recite some of the prices of things related to skiing (lift tickets, ski school, equipment rentals, car rental, etc.), but my goodness when it is your credit…

Tips for Families Traveling for the Holidays

I recently worked with the Travel Channel to answer some questions related to surviving (and enjoying) family travel!  This is especially important right now as so many families are hitting the skies (and roads) with their kiddos in tow.  Travel can sometimes be difficult even for frequent travelers, so it can certainly be stressful for non-frequent travelers who are not only having to get themselves from Point A to Point B, but  also get their whole crew there in one…

Last Minute Summer Trip Ideas

About a month ago I wrote an article for the Travel Channel on some ideas for last minute family trips before school started back up.  The article is now live, but unfortunately there isn’t too much time for most folks to put the tips into action before school actually starts (especially here in the South where school is starting for many places on Monday).  However, if you aren’t tied to a school calendar, then the ideas may still help.  If…

Tips Learned at the Olympics for Future London Trips

While in London for the Olympics, I paid attention to some money saving tips that would be applicable not just for trips during the Olympics, but for trips once the Olympics were over. My husband and I are actually returning early next year in an Envoy Suite using the US Airways off-peak awards for just 55,000 miles each (we got a 5K discount for having the US Airways card), so I wanted to be able to have some good ideas…

Learn About Elite Status, Hotwire, Earning/Using Points, and More on the Travel Channel

If you follow me on Twitter (or read View From the Wing yesterday), you may have already heard that some of the work I have been doing with the Travel Channel over the last couple of months is now available online. It’s actually been available for a couple days now, but I just find the whole thing so strange and surreal that I have had a hard time writing about it. I’m honestly still having a hard time writing about…

Saturday Morning Coffee and Updates

Hope you are having a good weekend whether you are curled up at home on your couch (or bed) with some coffee, or are out and about half a world from home.  Today I am keeping it short and simple with some updates from the world of miles and points: In case you missed it, I have a post up on the Travel Channel blog about how to still obtain tickets to the Olympic games from the official ticket source. …
